(Dryden, Ontario-December 2018) Once again Domtar is partnering with local volunteers to bring some Christmas magic to the Dryden Community.
The Annual Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade is a long-standing tradition in the community that is well loved and well attended. Over the years, the Domtar Dryden mill has chosen to take a different approach to their involvement in the parade and the long-standing float building project. Each year the Domtar mill works with a club from Dryden High School in a partnership that sees the club assemble the float on Domtar’s behalf and in turn, Domtar provides a financial donation to the club.
This year the Dryden High School Ambassadors club is the group doing the work raising funds for their upcoming trip to Scotland. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Domtar on this project. It gives our travelers and parents an opportunity to get creative, work hard and enjoy some teambuilding”, says Ted Mitchell the coordinator of the Ambassadors Club.
The project fits well with Domtar’s community giving program. “We are always looking for creative ways to support our community and this is a perfect example of a great partnership”, says Dianne Loewen, Domtar Public Affairs Coordinator. The partnership goes beyond Domtar and the club, and includes another longtime partner. Steven Blair Contracting graciously provides a truck and driver the night of the parade to pull the float.
These partnerships not only create the magic of the annual Domtar float, but foster a sense of community with those involved. The annual parade takes place on December 7, 2018
